Fish and chip fans have been left bewildered by the striking resemblance of a new chippy to one just miles away.
Rumbles Fish Bar opened its doors in Hethersett this week after claiming the village near Norwich was “crying out for” another chip shop.
But its arrival on the chippy scene caused some confusion among locals with many thinking it was a franchise of Rumbles in Costessey.
Michael Miller believed it would be “exactly the same” as the shop in Queen’s Hill while Lawrence Geib claimed “you don’t see McDonald’s franchises differentiating themselves”.
Rob Whitmore also pointed out that “when you compare the websites of both ventures, they have the same layout and menu".
But it has been revealed that the new Rumbles in Hethersett is independent of the one in Costessey.

Hilmi Tsin, owner of Rumbles in Costessey, said: "We just wanted to make all of our customers aware that the Rumbles Fish Bar in Hethersett is not owned or run by us. It's a completely different person.
"The owner of the Hethersett Rumbles used to be the business partner of Hasan Akdogan who founded Rumbles 10 years ago.
"They're not the same. He's just got his name on the trademark. He is allowed to use the same name."

Firat Bulut, who owns Rumbles in Hethersett, added: "We're independent. There's been some confusion but we're all independent."
On the similarity of the websites, both shops claimed that they simply "used the same designer”.
