Parts of the A47 between Norwich and Dereham will close this week for a £250m project.

The five-and-a-half-mile stretch between Easton and North Tuddenham is undergoing dualling work that began on August 19 and will last for the next three years.

One lane will be closed today at the Low Road junction in Hockering until the Easton roundabout with temporary traffic lights being put up.

The closure comes as part of a project lasting three yearsThe closure comes as part of a project lasting three years (Image: Dan Grimmer) On October 24, the closure will move up the road between the Fox Lane and Low Road junction, with the lights remaining in place to divert traffic until October 26.

Finally, the adjacent Norwich Road/Lyng Road, near Poppy's Wood, will be fully closed from October 28 until November 1 to allow construction for the new A47 junction.

A full westbound and eastbound diversion route will be in place. 

A spokesman for National Highways East said: "We’d like to apologise for any disturbance caused by our work, and we will try to keep this to a minimum where possible."
