Drivers were greeted with a free car wash as they headed to a supermarket in the city to do their weekly shop. 

Owen Benton captured the moment water erupted from the ground just outside the 'Welcome to Morrisons' sign in Albion Way in Norwich at around 11.40am today. 

In the video, cars can be seen getting drenched as they enter the supermarket's car park. 

The water flooded the roadThe water flooded the road (Image: Owen Benton) The jet of water spurted tens of feet into the air as a man quickly worked to try and stop the flow from behind a red barrier placed around the outlet. 

The situation has now successfully been dealt with - it is not known what caused the leak to happen.
