Roadworks which were causing major delays for drivers at a main junction on the outskirts of Norwich have been completed a week early.
A new set of traffic lights worth £270,000 have been installed at the Martineau Lane and Trowse bypass junction following a three-stage replacement project.
The work began on July 22 and was initially expected to take five weeks to complete.
The junction remained open at all times but due to the lane restrictions which were in place to protect workers, the area suffered from heavy traffic.
During the closure, some motorists reported delays of up to 20 minutes, with tailbacks of around an hour at rush hour.
Norfolk County Council initially said that the work was taking place during the school summer holidays when there would be fewer cars on the road.
The project included removing old equipment and cables, forming a new underground infrastructure and installing new traffic signal equipment.
Norfolk County Council has confirmed that the works are now complete and thanked the public for their patience during this time.
