Rail travellers were facing major disruption to services after a Norwich-bound train struck an animal on the tracks.
Greater Anglia announced that all lines were blocked due to the obstruction on the line between Great Yarmouth and Acle.
The incident took place on the 5.43am Great Yarmouth to Norwich train near Acle.
A witness had reported that a horse was struck by the train.
Train services between Great Yarmouth and Norwich were diverted via Reedham.
Greater Anglia warned that some services may also be cancelled or delayed.
A Rail Replacement Bus Service was scheduled to run between Great Yarmouth and Norwich, for passengers requiring Acle and Lingwood.
Greater Anglia and Network Rail staff were on site to deal with the issue.
A spokesman from Greater Anglia said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Anyone who was delayed can claim delay repay."
At around 2.30pm, Greater Anglia announced that all lines had reopened.
A spokesman said: "Train services running to and from these stations are returning to normal but some services may still be cancelled, delayed or revised."
