A four-year planning battle is drawing to a close as proposals for new homes emerge.

A bungalow will be demolished and two new two-storey homes will be built in Blofield as Broadland District Council has approved fresh plans.

The proposed Woodbastwick Road site is a large plot of land with a single bungalow to one side.

The newest plans given the green light by the council will see a three-bedroom home built on the currently empty grassland near the junction with Francis Lane. 

When the plans were first submitted to the council in 2020 they proved controversial, with several neighbours and Blofield Parish Council objecting to them.

One homeowner raised alarm that the plans would result in their loss of "privacy and light", that the plot would be "crowded and overdeveloped" and that they had fears over "traffic safety issues" while the homes were being built.

A planning inspector overruled concerns about the appearance and size of the new homes in 2021, with the applicant NR2 Properties Ltd now working to finalise the details of the new homes. 

Now that the plans for the first home have been approved, contractors can start to work at the site.
