A free event that the whole family can get stuck into is returning to a city park by popular demand this summer for one day only. 

The Bugs and Beasts festival is back at Waterloo Park in Angel Road for the first time since 2022 featuring drop-in activities with a nature twist. 

The event, hosted by Norwich Science Festival, will take over the park from 11am until 4pm on August 1.

Alina Sandu, the event coordinator, said: “We’re so excited to be able to bring this free, fun event back to Waterloo Park. 

"The theme of the day is ‘Bugs and Beasts’, giving everyone a chance to celebrate nature, biodiversity, conservation and our role in making the world better for all creatures. 

"It’s a great opportunity to find out about the nature that’s right on our doorsteps."

There will be the chance to draw patterns found in nature with the Climate Museum UK, discover the urban plants growing in Waterloo Park and take a sneak peek at the mini beasts living in compost. 

The activities on offer are best suited for children aged three to 12 and are free to attend.
