A Norwich pub has temporarily closed its doors while its management company searches for a new landlord.

A spokeswoman for Stonegate has confirmed The Nelson, in Nelson Street, will be closed until around the end of July.

She added that the pub, which has "great potential", is also set to undergo maintenance during this time.

The Stonegate website brands The Nelson "a great community pub that has a loyal customer base from locals and regulars".

It has become known in the area for its traditional pub games and live sports showings.

The venue has two trading spaces separated by a double-sided central bar.

One area contains a pool table and has space for up to 30 covers while the other can accommodate around 50 covers.

Outside, there is a beer garden with a patio and a spacious lawn as well as a useful outbuilding which can be used for storage.

A "light and spacious" three-bed private accommodation is also included.

According to the Stonegate website, bosses would like to give the job to an "experienced publican" who can "integrate with the local community" and boost footfall.

The Nelson's forecast turnover per year is £337,645 and the guide rent is £346 per week.
