A city food and drink venue has revealed it will transform into a beer hall every year after a successful first run this spring.

Yalm, in Norwich's Royal Arcade, held its first Summer Beer Hall event between May 24 and June 9.

As part of the city's City of Ale celebrations, a number of local breweries such as Duration and Ampersand took over Yalm's bar.

Boss Dan Searle has now confirmed it was such a success that it will become an annual event.

The operations manager said: "We’ve been delighted by the response we had to our Summer Beer Hall event.

"Over the two weeks we have sold tonnes of beer to hundreds of customers and had an incredibly fun time holding it.

"It’s been great to be able to showcase the talents of local Norfolk breweries such as Duration and Ampersand - they proved to be so popular that we sold out completely."

He added the breweries were so popular that Yalm has collaborated with Ampersand to create a hazy pale ale as a nod to the Royal Arcade's 125th anniversary.

This will be stocked for "the foreseeable future".

Mr Searle thinks the venue was a "perfect space" for the beer hall event and said the collaboration from all of its food vendors was a hit.

Next year, he hopes to make the takeover even bigger by featuring more breweries.
