A poignant tribute to remember a “beautiful and loved” 35-year-old mother will see a hundred people making their way through Norfolk’s countryside.
It comes following the death of Danni Day, of Loddon, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017 at the age of 29.
After treatment at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital (N&N), the former graphic designer for South Norfolk and Broadland Council went into remission.
She was then given the heart-breaking news that she would not be able to have children, but two years later fell pregnant with her and her partner Craig's "little miracle" son Bodhi.
However, in December 2022 Danni felt unwell with stomach pains, and it was discovered her cancer had returned.
She was diagnosed with incurable secondary breast cancer which had spread to her liver and lung.
Danni died at home last year on April 16 surrounded by family. She was 35.
Now, continuing her legacy, one hundred people will be walking 37.5 miles of Wherryman’s Way to from Great Yarmouth the Norwich to raise money for the cancer charity, Keeping Abreast.
Danni was a big supporter of Keeping Abreast, as the charity supported her through reconstructive surgery when she was first treated for breast cancer.
Organiser and friend, Jessica Ransome, said: “Throughout Danni’s battle with cancer we organised various fundraisers, including three walks along the Boudicca Way, with Danni well enough to take part in two of the events.
“This year, we are taking on the Wherryman’s Way, something Danni had been keen to organise before she was hit with the devastating news that her cancer had returned.
“We don’t want people to forget Danni, she was a loving and caring mother, a great friend and just beautiful inside and out.
“We want to raise money to help others fighting this awful disease.”
- The walk will take place on Saturday, April 27.
