Norfolk County Council has announced that planned works will start in Dereham on March 25 and include a new zebra crossing in Quebec Road to make it safer for pedestrians near the school.

Road resurfacing will also take place from the northern golf club entrance to just north of the junction with De Narde Road.

A full road closure outside De Narde Road from April 9 to April 10, between 7am and 5pm, will enable the road to be resurfaced.

The council has proposed an official diversion route taking a 30-mile detour into Swaffham before heading back into Dereham.

The proposals come following a recent waiting restrictions order lodged with Norfolk County Council to make the road less dangerous for homeowners living along its length.

The order, filed by a member of the public, said parking on Wroxham Road has become "problematic".
