City of Norwich School (CNS) celebrated the achievements of its students during a special ceremony attended by teachers, families, and alumni from the class of '23.
The academy, part of the Ormiston Academies Trust, reminisced over a year of personal progress and admirable performances by presenting more than 80 awards to the former Year 11s.
Kumi Stevens bagged both the Westergate Cup for Outstanding Achievement at GCSE, thanks to her nine Grade 9s, and The Guildhall Trophy for music and drama, recognising her dedication to music and orchestra.
Phoebe Baxter-Smith received the Ward Trophy for Extraordinary Achievement, in acknowledgment of her 'ongoing courage and positive attitude'.
Lola Howard was commended for her 'incredible' progress, receiving the Leckenby Cup for Progress from Key Stage 2 to GCSE.
The school also acknowledged students' community involvement.
Ben Quinton received the CNSA Cup for Services to the CNS Community, and Minnie Harrington, for her work with the school council and leadership team, was given The Philpott Award for Student Voice.
The evening also consisted of musical performances by students, a speech from headteacher Jo Philpott, and a keynote address by Sheriff of Norwich, Dr Jan Sheldon.
Dr Sheldon stressed the significance of community, prospects for future triumphs and seizing opportunities.
Jo Philpott, headteacher at CNS, said: “The evening was a wonderful celebration of our students’ achievements and contributions to the CNS community, and it was lovely to share with families such pride in our young people’s amazing successes.
“We are so lucky to have such an incredible team and group of students and alumni at CNS, who are incredibly hard-working, passionate, and kind in all that they do. Our students undoubtedly have a bright future ahead of them, and we look forward to seeing their continued achievements.”
