Train services were left in chaos this afternoon due to disruption on the two main lines out of Norwich.
At around 2.30pm, Greater Anglia said services between Norwich and London Liverpool Street would be disrupted until 7pm due to a loss of signalling between Ipswich and Manningtree.
The line was blocked in both directions while engineers carried out essential work.

All lines will be blocked for essential works to be carried out by Network rail engineers.
Disruption is expected until 19:00.

Just before 5pm, it was confirmed that the lines were back up and running earlier than expected.
Services between Norwich and Cambridge have also been affected today due to a train that derailed near Thetford last night.
An East Midlands train travelling between Liverpool Lime Street and Norwich derailed after hitting a tree at 90mph between Thetford and Harling Road shortly after 9pm on Tuesday.
Disruption is expected for the rest of the day while the train is moved and final checks are made to the line.
Greater Anglia said this afternoon it had "no estimate" of when the line would be running as usual.
Train services between Norwich and Cambridge have been suspended and train services between Norwich and Stansted Airport will only operate between Cambridge and Stansted Airport.
Passengers from Norwich to Stansted Airport can travel via Ipswich or London Liverpool Street.
Great Northern and Cross Country will accept Greater Anglia ticket holders between Cambridge and Ely.
The incident also affects East Midlands Railway services.
