A woman has suffered life-threatening injuries after a fall in a Norwich shopping centre.
A large police cordon was in place inside Castle Quarter which meant some shops were unable to open this morning.
A spokesman for Norfolk police said officers were called to reports of a woman falling over a safety barrier on Friday night.
The woman was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for treatment where she remains.
A police cordon was in place until 11am while enquiries were carried out.
Rob Bradley, centre manager for Castle Quarter, said: "We can confirm that there was an incident at 10.37pm on Friday, September 29 at Castle Quarter in which someone sustained a serious injury.
"Our security team arrived at the scene quickly and performed first aid until the emergency services arrived."
A number of police cars were spotted in the area and a large police cordon has been put in place around the main spiral staircase, below the Castle Social food court.
Shoppers were unable to access the Boots store from the ground floor, where security staff and police officers were standing guard.
Parts of level one and two of the centre were cordoned off and Mr Bradley said they will be unable to reopen the areas until later today.
He added: "Our thoughts are with the injured person and their family at this time.
"We are extremely grateful to our team members who responded so quickly, calmly and professionally to assist the person and support the emergency services throughout the night."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DS Adam Rayner at Broadland Police Station on 101, quoting reference NC-29092023-532.
