Arnold "Jim" Marriage passed away peacefully on October 9th at the age of 91 after a long illness. Jim was a principal lecturer at Norwich City College, serving from 1967 to 1988 in the Construction Department, having previously worked as a Quantity Surveyor. Before his career in education, Jim completed his National Service in Germany, sparking a lifelong interest in travel and languages. While at the college, he took part in student exchanges with the Handwerkskammer in Koblenz, building enduring friendships both at home and abroad. After retiring, he earned a degree in German and remained active in local history and guiding, including involvement with the Blue Badge Guides, Thorpe Hamlet History Group, Friends of Dragon Hall, and Friends of Rosary Cemetery. Jim is survived by his daughter, Anne, and son, Michael.
The funeral service will take place at Colneywood on Thursday, November 21st at 11 a.m., followed by burial at The Rosary. Flowers welcome, donations, if desired, can be made to Muscular Dystrophy UK.
