I first met Mario at the Coastguard Training Centre at Highcliffe in 1993, and was later to work closely with him at Humber Maritime Rescue Centre (MRCC) after the closure of Yarmouth MRCC. The local knowledge, experience and sense of fun that he brought with him was invaluable. I will be forever gratefull to him for this. I would like to thank the family for sharing him with us during that time that he spent away from home. This was a man who cared very much about the job and helping those in trouble, and he helped many for which we should all be gratefull.
