Norfolk FA's investigation into a scandal-hit Norfolk football club is continuing after the team pulled out of the first round of the FA Vase cup competition.

Norwich United withdrew from the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division last month with its under-21s team taking centre stage ever since it was rocked by allegations of death threats, secret filming in the dressing room and abuse.

Now the FA has announced the club will not compete in round one of the FA Vase, a knockout competition for those at step five of the English football pyramid and below, with May and Baker Eastbrook Community, which drew Norwich United, given a bye to round two.

Following the draw a Norfolk FA spokesman confirmed the investigation was continuing but refused to confirm any further details.

It comes after Dereham Town offered all season ticket holders at the club, nicknamed the Planters, free entry to all of its games this season.

A statement issued by Dereham Town read: "It is important that those in local Norfolk football come together after a difficult and divisive period.

"There's also the chance for fans of Norwich United to catch up with some familiar faces.

"We look forward to seeing you all at Aldiss Park and you will be made to feel very welcome."

While Norwich United's under-21 and under-18 teams continue to play at Plantation Park it is thought the club's season ticket holders have not been offered any form of refund.

A number of the club's former first-team players are still looking for clubs after they quit Norwich United three games before the club decided to pull out of the league.

Striker Matt Blake, who was among the first to raise concerns over issues at the club has now joined Ipswich Wanderers.

Norwich United has been contacted for comment.
