A popular city park will be closed for more than a week as a huge renovation gets under way.

The Jenny Lind Park on the edge of Norwich's Golden Triangle has been surrounded by fencing for several days.

Now, Norwich City Council has confirmed that the children's play area will be out of action until Thursday, October 3 as it undergoes a big refurbishment.

"Contractors are working to replace end-of-life equipment at some of the parks around the city."

Several diggers have been spotted at the site with work undertaken on the swings by the Union Street entrance and on the slide in the centre.

The rest of the park remains open, with only the playground area fenced off.
