New bus services have been introduced to help get Norwich City fans to Carrow Road on matchdays.

Fans had started to panic after coach firm Simonds, now part of Central Connect, announced it would stop running the service to games from towns in south Norfolk.

However, hundreds of fans can let out a sigh of relief with Sanders Coachers announcing it will take on the route.

The new service will begin on a trial basis on August 17 and August 24 for the Canaries home games against Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield United.

The first route will run from Diss Bus Station via Scole, Dickleburgh, Harleston, The Pulhams, Long Stratton and the A140.

The second begins in Garboldisham via Thetford, Larling, Attleborough, Besthorpe, Wymondham and Hethersett.

Both services drop fans off at the ground with return trips departing after the final whistle at 5pm.

Kieran Smith, operations manager at Sanders Coaches, said: "We are delighted to be able to step in and save matchday buses from south Norfolk and look forward to welcoming former Simonds customers as well as new passengers who may not have previously used the football bus.

"It is now important that football fans make use of the service for the next two matchdays. It really is a case of 'use it or lose it'."

The firm already offers four home match services from north Norfolk towns, with the new south Norfolk tickets costing £12 for a return.
