With an endless stream of litter plaguing the city, two sisters have taken matters into their own hands by cleaning up their neighbourhood.
Maizie aged nine, and Lucie aged six, have been part of litter picks around their home in Dussindale "before they could walk".
Their mum, Amii Ackrel, believes the actions of her two daughters should be a wake-up call to those in charge of keeping the city clean.
Amii said: "Everyone should be doing their bit to help, whether it's councils or highways.
"It shouldn't be down to just Lucie and Maizie to do it all.
"This should be a wake-up call for more to be done, because if it doesn't get sorted there could be bigger problems.
"We're playing our part but it's only a small part of a much bigger picture.
"Lucie and Maizie have both been litter picking before they could walk.
"Whether it's a little walk-around the estate or for hours at a time it's really eye-opening to see how much of a difference they want to make."

County Councillor for Thorpe St Andrew, Ian Mackie, recently awarded Maizie and Lucie certificates of appreciation and badges for their care of the local environment.
He added maintaining the city falls on a range of local authorities, saying: "With tens of thousands of miles of paths and highways it needs a collective response from everyone.
"If we take pride in where we live there's an opportunity to be proactive, just like Maizie and Lucie.
"They're shining examples of young people making a difference in the community.
"Keeping paths clear is a never ending task so every little really does help."
