A man accused of drink driving and smashing his car into a neighbour's garden wall is due to stand trial almost a year after the crash.

The crash, in Allens Lane, Sprowston, brought out many concerned neighbours on the evening of September 8.

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol before being taken to Aylsham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Despite the driver knocking down a wall and damaging two other cars, no one at the site of the incident was injured.

The man in question has since pleaded not guilty, with a police spokeswoman saying: "Luke Hodge, 44, of Neville Road, Norwich was charged on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol.

"He was bailed and appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court on January 9 this year for a first hearing.

"He has been remanded and bailed to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on August 23 for trial for driving with excess alcohol and driving without due care and attention."

Anna Lloyd-Williams had both her cars damaged during the incident and, had it not been for a simple oversight, things could have been a lot worse.

She said: "I had just finished working from home and was about to leave the house to get in my car.

"As I did though I realised I'd forgotten my sunglasses, so I went back in and upstairs to look for them.

"Probably 30 seconds later I heard this big bang - sounded like an explosion.

"I went outside and that's when I saw what happened, both cars had been damaged and there was a Land Rover in my garden."
