Heigham Park toilet block set for 12-week refurb in Norwich

A Norwich City Council spokesman confirmed that nearly a year after a planning application was filed work started on the new Heigham Park loos today.

The development is expected to take 12 weeks, which could see the popular city park left without toilets until the first week in August.

The city council originally applied to upgrade the loos in August 2023 but was faced with months of delays after public concerns were raised about unfinished work in Heigham Park, including at the bowling building, ladies' bowling clubhouse and tennis courts.

Planning permission was granted to demolish the current toilet block and replace it with self-contained cubicles at the start of the year.

However, despite original plans showing a bright yellow toilet block of loos, the council applied to change the colours and materials used for the building in April and is still awaiting approval. 

Now, the walls are set to be timber-clad and stained black, with concrete grey doors and aluminium metal roofing.
