A city restaurant that features in the prestigious Michelin Guide has bounced back from a lowly hygiene rating to secure top marks from inspectors.
Roger Hickman's Restaurant, in Upper St Giles Street, was given a two-star rating following an inspection by Norwich City Council last November.
But a fresh visit by inspectors has brought top marks and a five-star rating.
Chef-owner Mr Hickman said: "We have all really taken on board the feedback from the council at the last visit which related specifically to an additional piece of equipment required, the movement of a blue roll dispenser and updated training for the team.
"All of these have been actioned with such a positive result. We have all worked hard to achieve the highest rating and could not be prouder.
"Steve Watkin, my head chef, who was present for the inspection, is thrilled.

"The hospitality landscape is extremely challenging at the moment and so many independents are closing their doors, we do not want to be the next and are trying our hardest to do all the things we can to invite customers old and new into the restaurant with confidence that they will get the best experience."
The restaurant has bounced between a one-star food hygiene rating in 2021, a three-star rating in May 2022, a two-star in November 2023 and now back up to five stars.
The city council is yet to publish its inspection but Mr Hickman and his team were keen to share the outcome as soon as possible.

Following Wednesday's inspection, a Facebook post read: "We could not be more pleased to share this 5/5 rating.
"We listened to the feedback and we put in the work and it feels so worth it to stick that sticker on the door.
"Well done everyone!"
