ABC Taxis has pledged to support university students in Norwich throughout the academic year with its Safe Rides initiative.
Working in collaboration with the Students’ Union at the University of East Anglia (UEA), Safe Rides ensures that all students can get a lift home when it is dark, even if they don’t have any money for the fare on them.
24 hours a day, seven days a week, students from UEA can book a journey with ABC Taxis which will be covered by their Students’ Union, before repaying them once they have been contacted.
By phoning 01603 666333, quoting ‘University of East Anglia Safe Rides’, a vehicle will be sent to stranded students where they must give a valid student number to the driver.
Members of staff at the Students’ Union are fully trained to offer support and advice about the service and take payment.
Chris Ford, Regional Director for ABC Taxis, said: “Moving to a new area and starting university can be daunting, so we are here to support students in Norwich as they find their feet; our emergency service will ensure they get home safe without worry over finding the fare.”
