The drummer making a big effort to bring Canaries games to life this season has been left frustrated after a disagreement with a fellow fan.

Harley Gee, 24, plays at a number of Norwich's home and away games to bring the crowd together and help cheer on David Wagner's players.

However, an incident during City's 3-1 midweek win over Birmingham at Carrow Road last week could throw future performances into doubt.

A supporter also sat in the Barclay Stand voiced his displeasure at the drum being played, despite Harley organising things with the club.

Karen Gee, Harley's mum, attended the game with her son and said: "A steward was called as someone who'd been sitting in his seat was unhappy that the drum was positioned at the top of the aisle, a couple of places from him.

"The stewards offered the person an alternative seat but he refused.

"This played on Harley's mind constantly and it made him feel a bit uneasy, but this time there were no repercussions."

And whether people love or hate drumming at games, Harley has won over the majority of fans and players in his bid to become City's drummer.

Norwich won their next game, 2-0 against Cardiff at home on Saturday, but Karen said "the atmosphere was flat and was noticed by people online" as Harley was refereeing a game in Hampshire.

She added: "People think Harley just turns up but he actually puts in a lot of effort.

"He gets to the stadium early to do the safety briefing with the club as well as organising the minibus, and speaking to police, at away games to make sure any marches are safe.

"Due to his commitments with refereeing and his final year at university [in Southampton], it's not possible to attend all games, but he tries to go to most of them."
